SPROUT TALENT WEEK – OPEN TALKS: THE WALKABLE CITY

Walkable_city_1

How can we create walkable environments through technologies experimentations and citizen involvement? Join this Open Talk with Giulia Maci from Urbego as facilitator.

The session aims to reflect on strategies to enhance walkability and to address both problems of high congestion in historic centers and problems of lack of vitality and use.

How can technology companies, research institutions, local municipalities and third sector organizations find common objectives to improve pedestrian accessibility? What cost and time effective procedures and approaches can be adopted and replicated in different urban contexts to improve pedestrian movement? Is ‘piloting’ a valuable and feasible approach to test new concepts prior to full-scale implementation across the city? How can the results of the testing phase be incorporated into broader city policy or programmes.

These questions will be discussed through presentations that enlighten specific demands, tested methodologies and concrete results on walkability and slow mobility.
