’Deltagelse’ står lige nu højt på dagsordenen i det kunst- og kulturvidenskabelige felt. På museerne er den besøgende blevet til en bruger, som inviteres til at tage del i udstillingen. I kunsten er betragteren blevet til en producent, der er med til at skabe værket. Deltagelse udspringer af en ny forståelse af både museernes og publikums rolle. Den hænger sammen med ny teknologi, nye praksisformer, men også med kulturpolitik, oplevelsesøkonomi og institutionelle legitimeringskrav.
Det nye nummer af ARKEN Bulletin sætter fokus på deltagelse i museet. Gennem otte artikelbidrag undersøges deltagelsesbegrebet på forskellig vis: som museumsstrategisk værktøj, som kunstnerisk praksis, som en analytisk opmærksomhed, som del af udstillingssituationen og museumsinstitutionen og som et læringsmæssigt greb. Det bringer os omkring værker af blandt andre Palle Nielsen, Karoline H. Larsen, Yayoi Kusama og Jesper Just og ideer om det deltagende museum, deltagende kunst, affektive møder, performativitet, co-production, ’commons’ og demokrati.

‘Participation’ is currently high on the agenda in arts and culture. At museums the visitor has become a user who is invited to take part in the exhibition. In art, the viewer has become a producer who contributes to the creation of a work. Participation has evolved alongside new understandings of the role of the museum and the audience, which are linked to new technologies and new art practices, but also to cultural policies, the experience economy and institutional legitimisation.
The new issue of ARKEN Bulletin focuses on participation at the museum. Eight academics and curators explore the concept of participation from different angles: as a strategic tool at museums, as an art practice, as an analytical focus, as part of the exhibition situation and the institution of the museum, and as an educational approach. It takes us through artworks by Palle Nielsen, Karoline H. Larsen, Yayoi Kusama and Jesper Just, as well as concepts like the participatory museum, participatory art, affective encounters, performativity, co-production, the commons, and democracy.
