‘Suburbia‘ – A photographic installation by Lior Zilberstein

Suburbia

10th of April – 10th of October 2014
Byens Hegn, Vester Voldgade – Rådhuspladsen

Byens Hegn Metroselskabet and photographer Lior Zilberstein are happy to announce the opening of the exhibition ‘Suburbia’ at Rådhuspladsen on the 10th of April 2014. We hope that you will come and see the work and join us for a drink from 4 – 6 pm.

The project explores outdoor suburban areas at night lit by street and star light but devoid of the people that inhabit the spaces during the day. ‘Suburbia’ as it hangs on the city fence brings the periphery to the center. It extends the view from the city to the suburbs and explores the imaginary potential of this journey.

There is a certain excitement when traveling by train, which sometimes exceeds arriving to your destination. The future Metro station behind the city fence at Rådhuspladsen will connect to other Metro stations and to a larger transportation grid. In this location, ‘Suburbia’ can be seen as a metaphor for the journeys that one might do in the future.

Artist and photographer Lior Zilberstein shot the series in different European cities, working alone at night focusing on rural and suburban areas. Lior has been working and living in Copenhagen for over two years and ‘Suburbia’ is his first public exhibition in Denmark. Eight large scale prints will be on show in the heart of Copenhagen for the next six months.
